Progress is not achieved by fulfilling majority expectations
Majority expectations are also called mainstream.
Constant feeding of the mainstream leads to stagnation, and stagnation means death. For a long time, the diversity of cultures was a guarantee of diversity on the planet. For example, culturally inspired styles of music emerged, such as folk, funk, soul, rap, classical, blues and many others.
In a world that may one day be completely globalised, there is a danger of standardisation and music besides the mainstream starves to death in a niche existence because the market only makes profits in the mainstream and promotes it excessively.
A deadly spiral of uniformity develops from this. As long as capitalism remains the driving force of the world, only the diverse desires of the consumer can reopen the markets. Therefore – stay curious!
