Entprima Jazz Cosmonauts Symbol

August 16, 2021

A space odyssey is not a child’s birthday party. Infinite expanses are sometimes too much for our human minds. The sound spaces also behave somewhat differently than on Earth. Machine noises mix with sound phenomena that our memories conjure up for us. In the middle of it all, four jazz musicians play their earthly instruments to save their souls. A musical and sound adventure between distant galaxies.

Fight for Empathy

After the story of “Spaceship Entprima” and the stage play “From Ape to Human”, the Entprima Jazz Cosmonauts were free for a new task. The decision was made for a permanent, socio-political task – the fight for more empathy in this world.

Empathy logically excludes racism, fascism, injustice, greed and all other evils of human behaviour. And when we speak of fight, we include determined resistance. We will not leave our children a world worth living in if we allow ourselves to fall permanently into romantic transfiguration or meditative retreat.

Nevertheless, every person needs a balance for his soul. If we respond to hate with hate, we will fail miserably. But we are many! If everyone does his part in daily life to improve the situation, we will win.

Make sure that you always remain powerful in your mission and avoid confrontations that harm your soul.

Making of

The CD “Alltage” was the last recording (1995) of trumpeter Horst Grabosch before he had to put the instrument aside for health reasons. At the same time, the recording session was an attempt to break out of the abstraction of productions of that time with improvised Jazz.

The approach was a combination of 3 fellow musicians, who mastered free improvisation, but were more at home in other genres. In addition, they were told a space story, which should form the framework of the music. Grabosch insisted that the musicians follow their feelings without following expectations of the prevailing convention for free jazz.

The basis for each song was an episode from the space story. In addition, one musician was designated as the leading voice of the improvisation. The tempo was counted in by Grabosch. The result was extraordinary. In a few seconds, the musicians grasped the plot of the music emerging in the moment and developed songs from it.

The time between the live recording and today brought new possibilities in digital music production, which could bring out the emotions of the songs even more impressively through added sounds and spatial sound techniques. The 5 songs are a selection from the CD.
