Star Dream Waltz
January 3, 2020
Young people rightly dream of a better world. Currently, they can not find this world on earth, so they dream of traveling to the stars. This dream begins with flying as a beginning of the journey away from the suffering of the world. This song is about the dream of flying away.
From Ape to Human
Three young couples who have known each other since their school days – i.e. known as a peer group – meet regularly in the loft of computer scientist Paul. They have fun together and are all enthusiastic dancers.
Due to the Corona pandemic, the meeting described in the dance drama takes a slightly different turn. Torn between youthful light-heartedness and caution, they decide to do without dancing. Instead, the very talented programmer Paul wants to show his latest electronic achievement “Alexis”.
A converted coffee machine with a connection to the internet and a good portion of artificial intelligence. He proposes to make a thought game about human evolution: “From Ape to Human”. “Alexis” should be able to produce a suitable music video for each part of the developing story at the first go. But “Alexis” proves to be even more intelligent than Paul ever thought possible.
The Stage Scene Before the Song
The audience applauds the great dancers. Everyone is very happy with the first production of Alexis. Cineast Boris notices that the Sirtaki reminds him of Sorba’s dance from the movie with Anthony Quinn. They discuss the next step, and the romantic Claire finally takes command. She reminds us that looking into the future also has something to do with human dreams.
Her greatest childhood dream was the dream of flying, and she remembers the excitement of the family going to the airport to go on holiday. Faris sees this as a certain relationship to the further steps, because something other than setting off into space is ultimately the solution to escape the suffering of this world, including the ape-like behaviour of mankind.
Paul puts it in a nutshell for Alexis: “The dream of flying”. Alexis interrupts his Ambient program, flashes heavily for a while and finishes rendering the video with the red light constantly on. Paul gives the command: “Alexis play!”
Alexis produces music and videos on the fly in the stage play “From Ape to Human”.
